5 Events to Put Some Spring into Your September

As Summer winds down, kids go back to school, and we realize that ice cream is not a legitimate food group, it may be time to venture out to new and exciting happenings in the city and abroad. We’ve included five events to help you kick-off the Fall season before the impending doom of winter steals your happiness. Don’t fret, there’s Barbecue.

10805636_1593319624222706_2836421349883792557_n(Sept 3)  2nd Annual SUP 3 Rivers Southside Outside Paddle and Music Festival: Part family fun, part stand up paddle boarding competition, the all day event will feature live music, bike runs, yoga in the park, food trucks, competitor’s lounge, and even a beer tent.

For more serious water athletes, a 10k race will begin at 8am from Riverfront Park to the Clemente Bridge, and back. For those who enjoy the serenity of Pittsburgh’s largest bathtub, a timed 1/2 mile family friendly stand up paddle will launch in the afternoon.

derby-bbq-festival-derby-ks(Sept 17) 5th Annual BBQ Cook-Off and Blues Fest: Nothing spells fun like BBQ meat and live blues. And when you’re done basking in the glory of sauciness and delighting your ears with music, destroy those same ear drums with a fireworks extravaganza at the end of the night. flight-of-beers(Sept 9) Pour at The Park: For the beer lover in you, take part in the inaugural launch of Pour at the Park, a craft beer festival taking place at North Park. Attendees will enjoy a bevy of beer samples, food, and a killer live music line up including: Two Tall Twins, Rino Calandra, and Cisco Kid.
