The Summer of 2015 officially ends on September 23rd, but that doesn’t mean we can’t keep it going just a little bit longer. As the air begins to chill and the best of us begin to waddle around in our thick winter gear we’ll be longing for Pittsburgh’s hot Summer days. So, before it’s too late, take advantage of all the outdoor events the city has to offer.

PDP September Rooftop Shindig
September 10
Make your way to the top level of Theater Square Garage for this free all age event. This month’s featured movie is Zoolander. The showing will be accompanied by music from Balloon Ride Fantasy, handcrafted food from local vendors, cocktails, beer and hopefully really really ridiculously good looking people. Schenley Plaza Share Fair
September 11 4-7pm
Everything is free! This huge yard sale of sorts is all about getting rid of your junk and finding some new treasures. So bring that box of books that’s been sitting in your basement or that garbage bag full of old shoes and trade them in for something cool, like a different box of old books! Even if you don’t have anything to bring with, come browse and meet other browsers.

Pittsburgh Pierogi Fest
September 19
No Pittsburgh event list would be complete without the mention of pierogies. Join Stage AE for the 3rd annual Pierogi Fest. The all ages event will include a huge variety of music with everything from polka to folk to world music taking the stage. Over 30 pierogi vendors will be on site as well as a pierogi marketplace and activities for everyone. There will even be Turner Iced Tea available, this is about as Pittsburgh as it gets.

Penn Brewery Oktoberfest
September 19-22 & 26-29
Good ol’ Oktoberfest. Time to put on your beer helmet and indulge in the wonderful world of German cuisine. “Oompah-style” music will be provided by Autobahn Band, Heimat Klange, Kevin Solecki, and Madel Jager. And for the first time, Penn Brewery will be offering VIP tickets which will include perks like a free mug and, wait for it, indoor bathrooms.

Thrival 2015
September 21-26
For one week Thrival will be creating a city wide “innovation campus” to help the people of Pittsburgh learn how to make our city a more liveable place. The festival will culminate with a 2 day long showcase of performances by big names like Manchester Orchestra as well as local acts looking to make a name for themselves. 25 acts will take place in 48 hours in Pittsburgh’s very own Hazlewood. VIA 2015
September 24 – Oct 3.
This 10 day festival is a collection of performances and events including film showings, art exhibitions, music, and workshops. Both local and international artists will be participating in the event’s many different platforms including a zine fest, lectures and a games salon. There’s so much jam packed into this festival, it’s impossible to see it all.

Cultural District Gallery Crawl
September 25
This quarterly event opens up downtown’s Cultural District for one night with live music, pop up markets, great food and drinks and over 25 galleries to hop between. The last crawl of the season will take place September 25th and will showcase art from a plethora of diverse local artists.

Second Annual Hoptoberfest
September 26th
Drink for a cause! This annual harvest beer and food pairing festival donates 100% of their proceeds to the Children’s Foundation of Pittsburgh. So join Hop Farm for an afternoon of great beer and food brought to you by local chefs and feel good doing it!
