Film Pittsburgh presents 2 festivals Nov. 8-19

FILM PITTSBURGH presents Three Rivers Film Festival Nov. 8-15 at the Harris Theater, Pittsburgh Playhouse, Lindsay Theater and Waterworks Cinemas.

It will be followed by Pittsburgh Shorts and Script Competition Nov. 16-19 at the Harris Theater.

“Pittsburghers voted Three Rivers the Best Film Festival in town because of the incredible films and events we present,” said Kathryn Spitz Cohan, executive director of Film Pittsburgh. “And we can’t wait to share them with everyone this year.”

Three Rivers Film Festival will screen 22 feature films in person, including the world premiere of the Pittsburgh-filmed Titanic epic, Unsinkable, on opening night (Nov. 8 at Pittsburgh Playhouse). Four of the films are available to watch online.

The fest will also feature Pittsburgh premieres of some highly anticipated films such as The Holdovers and Housekeeping for Beginners from Focus Features and Neon’s La Chimera and Perfect Days.

Spitz Cohan also touts Pittsburgh Shorts and Script Competition. “The world and Pittsburgh premieres continue with Pittsburgh Shorts. We love offering these little gems you can’t see anywhere else and that Pittsburghers can see many of them with us before they go on to be nominated for and win Oscars.”

Pittsburgh Shorts will showcase 119 short films including dramas, comedies and “Chiller Theater” selections in person, with six film blocks available virtually.

The festival also includes a script competition with readings by some of Pittsburgh’s best actors on November 19 and a three-day Filmmaker Conference with sessions such as the state of TV today with executive producer Steve Stark (The Handmaid’s Tale, Wednesday) and a keynote talk by actor/writer/director, Justine Bateman (Family Ties, Violet).
