Movie Mondays: “Twin Peaks” at The Hollywood

A sign at the side of the road comes into view. “Welcome to Twin Peaks,” it reads, “population 51,201.” Thus is the intro to David Lynch’s cult classic TV series Twin Peaks, which ran from 1990 to 1991 (and will return later this month). This is also the site that will greet fans at the Hollywood Theater in Dormont this Friday at the fourth annual Twin Peaks Party.

Twin Peaks is a mystery-drama show starring Kyle MacLachlan, Micheal Ontkean, and Madchen Amick, focusing on the titular, fictional town in Washington state. MacLachlan plays FBI agent Dale Cooper, who is sent to the town to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer (Sheryl Lee). In 1992, a prequel film (Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me) was released. The new series will air on Showtime.

During the event, would-be Coopers can dine on pie and “damn good coffee” while enjoying music by Silenco, who was inspired by the score of the original show. There’s to be a costume contest and dreamlike (or perhaps nightmare-inducing) visuals will be projected on the big screen. The event is scheduled to last two hours.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Music will start at 8 PM, but the doors open at 7. You can order your tickets here.
