Pop Up Gallery Merges Professional Artists with Emerging Talent To Curate Real-World Opportunities

LOCALarts in conjunction with LOCALpittsburgh will host its first pop up gallery and emerging artist exhibit from June 2-June 17th at the La Pomponnee building at 659 Washington Road, Mount Lebanon.

The exhibit will kick off with Mt. Lebo’s First Friday celebrations, which will consist of strolling performers, sidewalk sales, magicians, live music courtesy of The Grievous Angels, and other activities.

Featured artists, two who are Mount Lebanon alumni, include Kelly Brown (Curator), Deborah Holtschlag, and Andy Mays. The show will also serve as an emerging artist incubator, showcasing select students from Mount Lebanon High School.

“This event unites working professional artists in the community while reaching out to our youth giving them an opportunity; to show their work and get public recognition for the excellent arts education they’re receiving from the newly renovated high school, to have direct interaction with a greater public in addition to press coverage for their budding resumes,” said curator Kelly Brown.

Kelly Brown, Curator/Painter- 1986 Alumni who recently relocated back from Bordeaux France where she lived and exhibited for 15 years, produces figurative and engaging visuals, drawing inspiration from French artist Odilon Redon.

Deborah Holtschlag, Painter- A full-time artist who took the road less traveled and received her art degree at 45, she now produces thought-provoking works of surrealism.

Andy Mays, Painter- Also a full-time artist who travels the country producing works for everyone from royalty to business conglomerates, his  detailed and immersive paintings are spectacularly crafted.
