Tonal/Atonal Landscapes: A Contemporary View to be Featured at The Spinning Plate Gallery

In the fast-paced age of technology and instant gratification, it is often difficult to slow down and enjoy life. To quote the 1986 film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, “life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” The Spinning Plate Gallery is sharing these small yet blissful moments that make life so meaningful with the local community in the upcoming week. From November 11-29, the Tonal/Atonal Landscapes: A Contemporary View exhibit will be open to the public.

The gallery will spotlight artists, who explore atmosphere as the dominant element in their bodies of work. When asked about the show, featured artist Michel Demetria Tsouris said, “we have an exceptionally beautiful group exhibit by three local artists happening at the Spinning Plate Art Gallery.” In addition to Tsouris, the exhibit will also display the works of Terri Wolfe Izzo and Rob Larson, two painters and a photographer.

Influenced by the Hudson Valley tonal landscape painters, George Inness and James McNeill Whistler, all three local artists deliver a contemporary overview of tonalism in their featured art. The show will have over 100 total works by the local artists with a modern spin on the tonalism artistic style that emerged in the 1880s. The show opens up to the public November 11 at 5:30 P.M. and continues to November 30. Masks are required for those who attend.
