Heinz & Shop412 Raise Funds for Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank

For more than three decades, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank (GPCFB) has been fighting to eliminate hunger and poverty in Southwestern Pennsylvania. In 11 counties, GPCFB brings support to one in seven people and has helped 97,540 children across the region fight hunger. Serving over 23 million meals annually, the nonprofit has made a huge impact since it opened in 1980. But despite their success, the GPCFB is always looking for ways to bring support to larger numbers of people and mobilize the community in creating a hunger free region.

Kraft Heinz has teamed up with Shop412, a local retailer specializing in fashion inspired by Pittsburgh culture, to create a limited edition Yellow Mustard Bottle that will raise funds for the GPCFB. Managing partner of Lawrenceville’s Shop412, Christian Kinkela, believes that “the future of Pittsburgh is as bright as ever and this limited-edition 20 ounce Yellow Mustard Bottle is a manifestation of the [city’s] potential… [Shop412] has joined efforts to help end hunger in Southwestern Pennsylvania with each dollar raised equaling five meals”.

The bottles went on sale in-store at Shop412 on September 19th and have been selling rapidly ever since. The retailer plans to sell these bottles until they have raised enough funds to provide one million meals. In order to reach this number and spread the important message of community involvement, Shop412 encourages consumers to promote the bottles on social media using hashtags #412xHeinz and #onemillionmeals.
