KEYS: Helping You Change The Lives of Pittsburgh’s Youth

Not sure how you can make viable change in your community and still make a living? AmeriCorps KEYS could be the answer you’re looking for; a role where your leadership and dedication are rewarded with more than just a pat on the back.

KEYS Service-Corps/FB

KEYS (knowledge to empower youth to success) is one of AmeriCorps many programs that puts concerned citizens in touch with non-profits, schools, and organizations all over the city that need help. During each member’s service term, the government fueled program awards bi-weekly stipends as well as an educational reward that can be used towards tuition or student loans.

AmeriCorps is a national service movement that seeks out community members of all ages and backgrounds to help them fulfill critical needs in education, public safety, health, and environment. Since 2005, KEYS has been serving at-risk youth in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County by rewarding those who take on these crucial roles as educational allies.

KEYS members serve part time or full time and are placed within schools, faith-based and community-based organizations, and after school programs during their term of service.

Everyone from grad students to grandmothers have participated in KEYS in the last decade. While becoming a vital part of Pittsburgh’s educational infrastructure, members are also able to boost their own skills and community presence.
