Clemente Museum Block Party,3339 Penn Ave, Fri./Sat./Sun, June 21, 22 & 23. Celebrate number “21” and be part of a new mural created by artist Kyle Holbrook of Pirate’s great Roberto Clemente. Activities include community mural painting, food trucks, Engine 25 wines and live Latin jazz on Friday 3 pm – 8 pm. and $10 museum tours on Saturday. Then, on Sunday, attendees can help finish painting the mural while munching on bakery items from Lola’s Eatery and coffee by Espresso A Mano for brunch from 10 m – 1 pm.
5th Annual Make Music Pittsburgh, Friday, June 21, Pittsburgh will be one of over 700 cities which will participate in this global day of music started in France in 1982. Local musicians will be showcased throughout the city to share their talent and inspire others to create music. Many different music genres will be represented, from hip hop to classical, bluegrass to gospel. Musicians sign up and businesses and homeowners sign up to host them outside. While many may be taking in the Pittsburgh Jazz Fest this weekend, consider this concert celebrating the blues influenced music of Mary Lou Williams and reflect her life as a black woman and a vibrant human spirit.
