Moe’s Southwest Grill Launches Grant Program to Help Serve Local Organizations

Since its opening in 2005, Moe’s Southwest Grill has been on a mission to serve more than just great tasting food in Pittsburgh. Franchisees, Mike Geiger and John Iaquinta believe that the success of any business is only achieved through the support it receives from its community, therefore it is only natural to want to give back to the local community. Over the course of 14 years of business, supporting the community remains the focal point of all locations of the business. Now, in 2019 Moe’s has launched their very own grant program to give back to its fellow community.

Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, with a written proposal. Eligible organizations that Moe’s has provided grants up to $2,000 towards consist of schools, youth athletic associations, non-profits, and faith-based groups. At the moment, the funds from the program are supporting the creation of an urban garden in Pittsburgh’s Hill District Neighborhood. Moe’s is also teaming up with the non-profit organization, Hannahtopia, this summer for a giving day at Children’s Hospital. Hannahtopia, provides children with products that help brighten life for children with special needs and medical challenges, which relates to Moe’s mission of community.

According to Alyssa Kulikoski, Manager of Moe’s Community Grant Program, “Moe’s understands that many times an initiative needs a kickstart to get the project going, and our grants give local charities and communities a chance to begin new projects or to fill a void in existing efforts.” Moe’s wants to provide more opportunities for new businesses and organizations to make a difference in the greater Pittsburgh area.
