Take a Wild Romp With The Pittsburgh Banjo Club

Over 40 banjo players, along with accompanying tubas and horns, take the floor for a wild rumpus of folksy fun every Wednesday night at the Northside Elk’s Lodge. Banjo players, banjo enthusiasts, and cheap beer lovers can all be found partying it up with the Pittsburgh Banjo Club where the unlikely venue brings together a diverse and lively crowd.

The swell of trumpets and banjos fill the North Side Elk’s Club every Wednesday night from 8-10pm. The club’s 40 foot long bar serves up $2 PBR’s and $1.50 Yuenglings all night. A crowd ranging from college kids to long time patrons old enough to be their grandparents frequent the Lodge to partake in a wistful musical journey.

The completely volunteer based banjo club has been cranking out classic tunes since 1988. The group was founded by National Four-String Banjo Hall of Famer, Frank Rossi, and is dedicated to keeping the music of the Golden Era alive and kicking.

The Pittsburgh Banjo Club operates as a non-profit and has donated over $120,000 to local charities over the past 26 years. The club performs all over the city, bringing cheer and sing-a-longs to all their audiences with music from the 20’s and 30’s, polkas, and Dixieland.

Bring your banjo down to the Elk’s Lodge to become part of the Wednesday night festivities or just show up and sing the night away.
