A Fitness Forward Event To Jump Start Your May

My inbox and social media feed is jammed with events from beer tasting to jogging around in superhero costumes. Running up stairs, racing for the cure, dancing the night away, doing yoga on rooftops, or eating food I can’t really pronounce, there’s no shortage of events that can occupy my mundane existence. But, there was one thing Laura Early noticed when she delved into the very saturated event market, a large-scale fitness event. And that’s when Body Rock! was born. The literal manifestation of Early’s child, the all-day fitness event merges a wide array of fitness instructors, music, and fitness-inspired fashion into an action-packed cornucopia of sweat for all who want to combat impending cell-phone induced atrophy.

“Body Rock! is an idea that popped into my head last year, when all I saw around the city was yoga, yoga, yoga. But no events highlighted all of the other great fitness that our city has to offer. My first thoughts were to get a ton of spinning bikes in a huge room, offer a variety of fitness classes (including yoga) in a unique space that would create a pop-up style fitness event.  Yes, it seemed ambitious – but the idea and subsequent conversations set me off into planning mode, and before I knew it – the end result was Body Rock! at Stage AE – a mashup of Pittsburgh’s top fitness instructors and studio owners, fashion, health and wellness,” said Early.

The pop-up event, which will be held at Stage AE, located in Pittsburgh’s North Shore, will host Barre, Spin, Power Pilates, Fatbells (The glorious unification of kettlebells and dumbbells), Fit Spirit (Group), Rebuilt (Circuit), and Jump Rope exercises designed to punish you for every culinary sin you’ve made up to this point in your life. There will also be various fitness vendors, food, and of course, tunes to mask the screams of exercise in the morning.

Body Rock! takes place on April 30th. Registration is 8am-8:45, and fitness festivities are until 2pm. Tickets are $25.00, click here for more information.
