Free Fridays: Book Signings, The Frick, and Santa.

Ed Banchs Reading and Book Signing

City Books will welcome Ed Banchs, author of Heavy Metal Africa, a novel chronicling rock music culture throughout African countries. The event is Tuesday December 13,  from 7:00-8:30pm. For more information, visit City Books online.

The Frick Museum

Peruse the immensely impressive art collection of Henry Clay Frick, one of America’s titans of industry, and one of the world’s most celebrated art collectors. There’s so much to do there, it’s stupid awesome. The gardens, educational center, and even a horse + carriage museum.

There are also paid tours of Frick’s residence. For more info, visit The Frick online.

PPG Winterdgarden

The PPG Wintergarden offers a very free, and very awesome display of Santa’s from around the world. Also on display is a monster Christmas tree and hundreds of gingerbread houses. Unfortunately, they pulled the plug on the train village this year, but still worth a visit. There’s a Crazy Mocha so you can get hopped up on caffeine while you walk around in circles pretending to read what Russian Santa is all about.

Also free, you can step outside and watch absolute winter champions fall on the ice skating rink as they try to impress others with their feats of misaligned athleticism. It’s a Festivus miracle.
