Frick Park Hosts a Weekend Long Earth Day Celebration

It seems like Pittsburgh can never quite decide what season it is, but this week’s sunny weather and light rain showers are a sure indicator that Spring has arrived and it is here to stay.

To celebrate the demise of Winter, join Frick Park all weekend long for their Earth Day Celebration. Put on some tennis shoes and get ready for three days full of star gazing, hot dog roasts, hiking, and fresh air.

Kicking off on Friday night, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy will be hosting a nighttime bonfire open to all ages. So bring your family and bring your pets down for an afternoon hike and marshmallow cookout.

On Saturday, from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, all you tree huggers will have a chance to volunteer in our city’s most expansive park for a morning planting trees, picking up litter and partaking in other park beautifying activities. Click here to sign up.

Beginning at 11:30 on Sunday, expert naturalists will be leading hourly hikes through Frick Park. Each walk will include activities along the way including tree and mushroom IDing, salamander spotting, and much more. Walks will take place until 4:30 with sign up beginning at 11:30.
