D’s Six Pax and Dogz – Hot Dog of the Month (October ’18)

From Theresienwiese to Berlin and through Autobahn, Oktoberfest is back for another year of great food and beer. Impressively, D’s Six Pax and Dogz is bringing the celebration to Regent Square with a kick of German flavor. The October Dog of the Month, “The Oktoberfest,” is back at Pittsburgh’s favorite hot dog shoppe.

“The Oktoberfest” differs from the other gourmet dogs that D’s has to offer. Served on a fresh steamed pretzel bun, topped with a Düsseldorf beer cheese sauce and sauerkraut, this smoked cheesy bratwurst is better (and much easier for October to get a hold of) than a Pirate’s grand slam. The Oktoberfest is also available on a famous D’s beef/veggie dog and its German roots blend perfectly with a Great Lakes Oktoberfest, one of the many seasonal craft beer options.

For nearly seven years, The Oktoberfest Dog has been going strong as D’s seasonal option. “Strap on your lederhosen, jump in your Volkswagen, fill up your beer stein, and grab one of these bratwursts for never ending Oktoberfest fun,” said executive chef, Corey Flesse, when asked about the dish.

We’ll be doing these pieces monthly. Check back next month to see the newest creation from D’s Six Pax and Dogz!
