As construction continues on 1700 Penn, a bar/taproom/retail store in the Strip District, the owners invite you to party in the adjacent parking lot.
Pennsylvania Libations and Helltown Brewing are hosting a St. Paddy’s Tailgate on March 14 to celebrate the City of Pittsburgh annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The event is free to revelers 21 and over. Guests will be required to show their identification upon arrival and will be given a wristband. Leashed pups are welcome.
The shenanigans go from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine, but patrons can take shelter under the 2,400-square-foot tent. The big top will serve an array of Helltown beer, Grand Illusions ciders, meads and a collection of Mazza wine. Tasty lobster rolls from Wholey’s Seafood Market will also be available
Live music begins at 1 p.m. with C. Scott Ensemble. Soak up that booze with food from local vendors and buy St. Paddy’s T-shirts and accessories from Yinzers. In addition to paying homage to the Irish, the March 14 bash is a fifth-anniversary party for Pennsylvania Libations, which has another Strip District spot at 2103 Penn Ave.
During the 2019 holiday season, the tent served as a pop-up beer and wine bar. 1700 Penn will once again be holding a market-style event every weekend beginning March 21. Shoppers can visit from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to stock up on wine, cider, and mead.
The owner, Christian Simmons, hopes the market gets people excited for the brick-and-mortar location, which is set to debut this spring or summer.
Pennsylvania Libations will run the full-service bar area, using more than 150 different spirits and 200 wines from across the Commonwealth.
