Like laughter, check out The Giggle and Grub Club…..

Written By Sam Hanna

This Saturday  in Swissvale at T’s Restaurant & Lounge,  The Rev Raw Joy and Jus Janell are set to unleash “Love & Laughter”, this month’s Giggle & Grub Club show. A monthly series, the Giggle and Grub Club, assemble a group of comedians and put on a theme based show. This month’s show is “Love & Laughter”.

It was in 2018 while at a Hambones open comedy night that these ladies began their comedy journey. Twice a week, 3-5 minutes at a time, doing what may be one of the hardest things to do, they stood up in front of strangers and practiced their craft. Rev Raw, raised in the AME Zionist Church, felt a different calling from God in 2006, the call to make people laugh. This seemed to be reinforced over the next ten years through confirmations she felt from people and situations. Throughout the years, her long time friend Janell, pushed and dared Rev Raw to finally get up on stage. Why not use the this God given gift she once practiced pastoring to her congregation to now make people laugh? There is a common thread, a universal similarity between preaching and comedy. Laughter can soothe the soul, and bring balance to oneself in a similar way many look to religion. Just Janell is also a certified magician, one of only 3 black women in PA, has been using magic to make people laugh for 15 years. The healing power of laughter has really hit home for Janell who recently lost her possessions to an apartment fire. Comedy allows her to look at situations differently, twist misfortune into a smile or even a laugh.

Doors open at 7:30, tickets are $15, with themed drink specials all night and a special $7 menu. Roni Shanell Headliner coming from Detroit Michigan!! Plus The DJ B
