It’s almost impossible to miss the bright teal food truck belonging to Jason Taylor of Pita My Shawarma. But, it’s even harder to pass up the most authentic shawarma food truck in Pittsburgh.
Over the past year, Taylor has made his mark as an authentic shawarma provider, with people coming from hours away just to experience his menu. Besides the bright and colorful branding, the food packs a big punch of flavor with shawarma stacked and spinning in the truck daily.
As LOCAL approaches its next issue covering Mediterranean spots (and my first print issue as food editor!), this is just a glimpse into the growing, authentic Mediterranean cuisine here in the 412.
Being a part of the creative community, Taylor has used his photography skills to create a drool-worthy Instagram page with updates of where his truck will be weekly, in case you’re now all of a sudden in need of a shawarma.
This month, the business is celebrating its one-year anniversary with, of course, a pita party co-hosted by yours truly. It’ll be a night of food, drinks, art, and a community coming together to celebrate another business bringing diversity and fresh, delicious food to the Pittsburgh food scene.
